SDLC Express Synchronous Data Link Control. A data link-layer host
communications protocol. By default, SDLC Express uses external
clocking and sets the baud rate to zero.
Also known as point-to-point SDLC link.
See also host, baud rate, clocking.
sequential access 1. The ability to retrieve records based on the order of an index. The
current record is the position of a logical pointer into the file, and the
next and previous records refer to records based on the index order.
Contrast with direct access.
See also index.
2. A method of accessing pooled VTs. For sequential access, the
system allocates the lowest numbered available VT to the requesting
application. For example, if VTs 2 and 5 are both available,
COMMGR assigns VT 2 upon the next request.
Contrast with non-sequential access.
See also VT, VT pooling, COMMGR.

shared resources Resources in a "pool" that can be shared. Applications request shared
resources from a common resource pool. When the application no
longer needs the resource, it returns it to the pool (that is, frees the
resource).
Avaya MPS shared resources include ASR, CPD, and TTS.
For information about using shared resources in an application, see
the Avaya MPS Application Programming Reference Manual and the
Avaya MPS PeriProducer User’s Guide. For information about
configuring shared resources, see the Avaya MPS System
Configuration Reference Manual.
