dynamic referral A dual-line referral method available on a digital MPS.

When the caller line needs to make a referral, the system looks

through a list of pre-allocated referral lines (hunt group) for the first

free (non-busy) line and uses that line to make the referral.

This setup provides complete control over the hunt group. You can

assign lines in ascending or descending order. You can specify which

lines should never be used, or which lines get a higher priority. In

most cases, the advantage of this setup is that a large number of caller

lines can share a smaller number of referral lines – that is, less

physical phone lines are required for referral services. The

disadvantage of this setup is that while the system is looking for a

suitable referral line, the application pauses.

By default, digital systems are set to use fixed referral. Also known as

hunt group.
