Glossary of Avaya MPS Series Terminology paging
Page 80 # P0602812 Ver: 1.3
paging A method of accessing MMF elements that conserves Voice Data
Memory (VDM).
By default, SMP attempts to load all vocabulary elements into VDM.
However, if the size of the activated MMF elements exceeds
available voice memory, the elements are played from disk (that is,
elements are paged from disk as required).
Each phone line has dual paging buffers. SMP places the element’s
data in the paging buffer to be spoken. When the data in the buffer has
been spoken, SMP replaces it with the next block of data to speak.
The paging method is used by the system for the output of vocabulary
elements that do not exist in memory, the playback of Caller Message
Recording (CMR) elements, and fax image transmission.
Enable paging for an MMF if its elements are infrequently accessed
or if it is necessary to save voice memory for other MMFs.
Also known as DBAP (Disk-Based Audio Playback).
For additional information, see the Avaya MPS System Reference
Manual.

command man pages smp paging, smp pagesize, smp
lookahead, and smp activate.
partial key A method of accessing data in a database by matching data with an
abbreviated search string.
A partial key search yields all the data which contains the specified
elements. That is, searching for “34” finds “1234”, “2345”, “34789”,
etc.
KSDS files support searches by partial key.
See also database, key, KSDS.
