partial loading A method of loading element names into the hash tables that saves

system memory. Partial loading only includes the specified number of

characters from each name. After truncation, each element name is no

longer than the truncation length.

Element names must be unique after they are truncated or SMP will

only access the first element with a duplicated name. To avoid this,

when you create elements, assign names that are unique within the

first few characters.

Contrast with delimited loading.

PBX Private Branch Exchange. A smaller version of the phone

company’s central switching office that can be purchased by

individual businesses. An advantage is total control over features and

functions.

PCM Pulse Code Modulation. The method of converting an analog voice

signal into a digital bit stream.
