To specify a password, enter:

authentication

For example, the following command sequence enables authentication and sets the

password to “secret” on IP interface 2.2.2.2:

rip/2.2.2.2# authentication-type simple

rip/2.2.2.2# authentication secret

Using Site Manager

To configure authentication for RIP Version 2, complete the following tasks:

Site Manager Procedure
