Sending Messages
Use Resource blocks to send messages to the host.
In most cases, VTCPD uses the message ID to route messages. Any request from the
application to the host and any response from the host to the application must contain
the same message ID.
The VTCPD can be configured to establish the message ID, or allow the application to
establish the message ID.
In an application that solicits data from the host, the first Send establishes the message
ID (see Soliciting Host Data on page 73.) A host driven application can establish the
message ID in the Resource block that contacts VTCPD (that is, the Resource block
with the Get operation) or wait for VTCPD to establish the message ID (see Host
Driven Applications on page 76.)
After the message ID is established, the application and the host can continue to send
and receive messages using multiple Resource blocks. For example:
