About This Guide

If you are responsible for conﬁguring and managing Bay Networks

routers

and/or BayStream

™

switching platforms running over Frame Relay,

Point-to-Point, or X.25 networks, you need to read this guide to learn how to

customize Bay Networks platforms for software- and hardware-based data

compression.

Before You Begin

Before using this guide, you must complete the following procedures. For a new

router:

• Install the router (refer to the installation manual that came with your router).

• Connect the router to the network and create a pilot conﬁguration ﬁle (refer to
